Victor Tango (Born June 2004; Imported 2004)
GVHS Registration #GV00473F
Breeder:
Michael Vine
Victor
x Trixie

Victor Tango (barn name Tizer) is a gorgeous, up-and-coming stallion who has already made his mark in the show ring. He has competed in driven dressage, earning a 66.5% score his first time out.  At the 2006 Ohio State Fair Gypsy Vanner Horse Show, he placed 2nd in the Stallion under 2 Years Old class. In the 2006 Feathered Horse Classic, he again placed 2nd in the Stallion at Halter class and then won Reserve Champion of the show. He has accomplished all this in just his first year of showing and as a two year old.  If he continues being trained and shown, Victor Tango has the potential to excel in the rapidly growing Gypsy show world.

The number of shows for Gypsies is increasing each year. In 2005, the first Ohio State Fair Gypsy Vanner Horse Show was held and attracted a quarter of the horses in the registry at that time. The 2006 show was even bigger.  Major GVHS shows have also been started at the Oklahoma and Oregon state fairs.  Local chapters of the GVHS are forming and holding local shows; among these is the Great Lakes Gypsy Vanner Horse Club, which has started a popular futurity.  Although the GVHS has dominated the Gypsy show world, several non-registry-specific shows exist. In 2006, the first ever Feathered Horse Classic, open to horses irrespective of registry, was held in Perry, Georgia, and another is scheduled for 2007.  Also new in 2007 is the Gypsy Cob Horse Show to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in May. All have generated high levels of enthusiasm, and we expect even more to spring up across the country.  As either a gelding or stallion, Victor Tango would garner attention for his farm in the show ring.
For Tizer’s full show history, please see here.

Tizer’s sire was the Vine’s tricolor stallion Victor (pictured here), who was our Silver Belle’s full brother.   Sadly, Victor died in an accident at a relatively young age, leaving only a few offspring behind.  His bloodline is therefore somewhat rare. This is one of the best lines of Gypsy in existence and are not ones that will be found on every street corner.  Please see Tizer’s pedigree below.

Already proficient at driving, Tizer is now in training under saddle with noted trainers Danny and Mary Inabinett of Landrum, SC, who can be reached at edgefarm@windstream.net.  Please feel free to direct any inquiries about his training and personality to them.  By next spring, Tizer will be fully competent both under saddle and in harness and will be ready for his new owner to take into the show ring.

When we bought Tizer, we were looking for a promising weanling colt to bring up and sell as a trained gelding.  We approached the Vine family and selected Tizer from the colts available without knowing that he was Silver Belle’s nephew.  Although we intended to geld him, we came to realize that doing so would constitute a major loss to the breed.  As he has matured, we’ve been impressed by not only his wonderful conformation, which was obvious even when he was a weanling, but also by his steady, sensible, and workmanlike personality and by the quality of his movement.  We believe that this young stallion has the capability to make his mark in the show ring and also to be a major sire of the Gypsy breed.  Were he not so closely related to two of our mares, we would keep him for ourselves.

UPDATE: Tizer has sold to Sherry Evertson of Lazy River Gypsies. She intends to drive and show him and use him as a trail horse for her grandson. We are pleased that Tizer has gone to such a good home and will update this page with information about his future career as we get it.
