Why a Gypsy Horse? |
The Gypsy Horse can be described as a people-sized draft horse. He possesses the heavy bone and broad body of a draft horse but on a smaller scale than the Shire and Clydesdale from which the breed is partially derived. This heavier body build gives him a broad back and great stability. Moreover, his rider is relatively close to the ground. Thus, the GH is well suited to most equestrian sports. His can-do attitude and willingness to do what is asked of him are his biggest assets and insure his success in whatever equestrian sport he undertakes. Gypsy Horses are being used in dressage, Western riding, Hunt Seat, jumping, and, of course, driving. The GH's appearane is also very pleaseing. With the extravagant feathering and bold coloring typical of the breed, his appearance evokes joy. The Gypsy-bred horse is a relatively young breed. Please see Breed History for the background of the Gypsy Horse. To see what a good Gypsy Horse should look like, please see What Constitutes a Vanner? Thank you for visiting Silver Feather Gypsies!
